CELTIC supporters will be hit with a reduced allocation when they travel to Tynecastle later this month.

Ange Postecoglou's side will make the short trip along the M8 for their Premiership encounter with Hearts on January 26 but will have significantly fewer away supporters than usual.

The Glasgow club last played at Tynecastle on the opening day of the season when 4500 home fans were in attendance due to coronavirus restrictions at the time.

Celtic fans were seated in the Roseburn Stand, which has a capacity of over 3500, during their last visit to the capital with no restrictions in place in December 2019 but only 1289 seats will be available for the upcoming fixture.

The move from Hearts is similar to the one made when Rangers travelled to Gorgie on league duty last month, when 1289 away tickets were available.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced on Tuesday afternoon that current restrictions that limit attendance at outdoor sporting events to 500 people will be lifted on Monday - just in time for the Premiership's resumption, when Celtic host Hibernian.
