IT IS back to league business for Celtic with a trip to Paisley to face St Mirren.

After securing the first trophy of the Ange Postecoglou era with the League Cup final win against Hibernian at Hampden, the Hoops will face the Buddies on cloud nine.

They do, however, have some selection questions to answer.

Who replaces the injured David Turnbull? Does Kyogo Furuhashi start despite Postecoglou's admission he wasn't quite fully fit on Sunday? Will Anthony Ralston spend a second successive game on the bench?

St Mirren have the headache of trying to assemble a team given the havoc that Covid has wrecked on the Paisley side's squad but it would be remiss of Celtic to expect anything but a testing night.

Jim Goodwin's side are without a win in their last nine games and will feel that there is nothing to lose as they hope to capitalise on any Celtic hangover from Sunday's League Cup triumph.

There are areas of interest for Ange Postecoglou given the injury to David Turnbull while it remains to be seen if Kyogo Furuhashi keeps his starting position.

It may be that the Japanese forward, who started on Sunday after tweaking his hamstring a fortnight ago, plays to sustain his match sharpness.

Nir Bitton is expected to deputise for Turnbull while Anthony Ralston would have felt hard done by not to have started at Hampden. It will be interesting to see if he is back in the starting XI after what has been an impressive campaign.

In any case, on a tight pitch and against a packed St Mirren defence, Celtic will need to be clinical as and when chances present themselves.

The Kyogo question probably relies on just how far away he really was from starting a game on Sunday were it not a cup final.

Chances are his recuperation was probably intended to go on a game or two more which means there is a possibility the inverse of his role at Hampden takes place in Paisley and the Japan striker is held in reserve for the first 70 minutes or so rather than playing them.

It's a risk but, as Postecoglou said post-match, it's always about risk when you play as many games as Celtic do. If he does keep Kyogo preserved, Liel Abada should start through the middle after a solid display there against Ross County and in the end stages of the cup final.

In that case, Josip Juranovic could be set for a stint at right wing again allowing Anthony Ralston to return to the starting XI after being benched for the Hibs game.

Elsewhere, Stephen Welsh should replace the suspended Carl Starfelt in central defence while left-back Greg Taylor just enjoyed perhaps his best game in a Celtic jersey (and on the big stage, no less) so there should be no room for a Liam Scales return despite his positive contributions in Dingwall.

In midfield, it would be surprising if anyone but Nir Bitton - in resurgent form since slotting back into midfield - replaced the injured David Turnbull alongside Callum McGregor and Tom Rogic.

Sean's team: Hart; Ralston, Carter-Vickers, Welsh, Taylor; Bitton, McGregor, Rogic; Juranovic, Abada, Johnston.
