ALLY MCCOIST has called for an end to the "pettiness" of pundit stadium bans after Chris Sutton's Ibrox access saga rumbled on last week.

Celtic hero Sutton was last week reportedly refused entry to Ibrox to work on the BT Sport's Europa League coverage.

The broadcaster then changed plans to host coverage of both Celtic and Rangers' matches from an empty Parkhead.

The ongoing saga between Sutton and Rangers is just one of a number of instances referenced by McCoist who called for clubs to let pundits work at matches and drop the bans.

McCoist gave his thoughts on the situation as he cited Andy Walker's Celtic Park ban and the confusion over Kris Boyd's access to Dens Park.

However, McCoist first aimed a jibe a Sutton over his comments on Stenhousemuir as he referenced the club when making a point on Manchester United's 'amateur' management recruitment process.

Speaking on BT Sport's Scottish Football Extra, McCoist said: “I’m shocked (about Stenhousemuir jibe) and this is close to home for me by the way, I don’t know if you know the story.

“But my youngest boy plays in the same team as the Stenhousemuir manager’s son. So this is close to the bone for me Sutton.

“I don’t mind you falling out with Rangers or Aberdeen or whoever. But this is close to base and you have to start behaving yourself.

“In all seriousness guys, Chris banned from Ibrox, Andy Walker banned from Celtic Park, Kris Boyd banned from Dundee. The only thing that surprised me is the email arrived on time to ban Kris Boyd.

“But in all seriousness, can we stop the pettiness and just get on with the football and let people into games. I’ve got it off my chest.”
