STEVE CLARKE has revealed he was in touch with John Fleck following his on-pitch health scare on Tuesday evening.

The Scot collapsed during Sheffield United's Championship clash against Reading on Tuesday night.

Jayden Bogle grabbed United’s winner but the match was overshadowed by the second-half incident when Fleck went down apparently unchallenged, with his team-mates quickly indicating for the medics to run on the pitch to tend to him.

He was stretchered off the field and taken straight to Royal Berkshire.

He was discharged the next morning after undergoing several medical tests.

And Clarke has touched upon his contact with the former Rangers kid.

He said: “John’s fine. I had a little text message exchange, I didn’t want to phone him when he was in hospital. I am sure he had loads and loads of people who wanted to call him.

"John has assured me he is fine. It was a scary moment for everybody and thankfully he seems to be over the worst.”
