ANGE POSTECOGLOU has commented on today's tennis ball protest made by Celtic fans.

The Parkhead outfit's match with Dundee was halted after tennis balls were launched onto the pitch just seconds after kick-off.

The protest was against the potential appointment of Bernard Higgins in a security and safety role at Parkhead.

It's been said that the former Police Scotland commander is set to take over a senior security role at Parkhead.

A banner at Dens Park read: "Fans or Higgins? The ball's in your court."

Commenting on the protest, Postecoglou said:

"My view on all those kind of things is that we live in a society where people are allowed to express themselves.

"I don't honestly think it is a bad thing. My preference is that is does not effect the 90 minutes of football.

"The 90 minutes of football is when I want us all united. The whole football club. Ultimately that is what we are all here for is the 90 minutes.

"That would be my preference. There is an avenue for people to express themselves if they aren't happy.

"It is not necessarily a bad thing but I would rather protect the sanctity of the 90 minutes because I know how precious it is.

"If we want to be a successful team we need everyone united for that."

On the disrupted minute's silence, Postecoglou added: "You would have to ask the individuals why they felt the need to do that.

"My view is pretty simple. You treat these things with respect and dignity. That's what we certainly did.

"I think the majority of fans did. That is the kind of football club that we are."
