CELTIC have opened talks with Tottenham over keeper Joe Hart, according to reports.

The Hoops are thought to be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper despite having Vasilis Barkas, Scott Bain and Conor Hazard on the books.

And respected Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claims Joe Hart could become the new Celtic number 1 if an agreement is reached.

Romano says negotiations are ongoing between Celtic and the Premier League club.

The Italian transfer specialist also revealed Aurelio Buta is the top priority at right-back with talks continuing.

Herald and Times Sport understands Celtic are keen on bringing Buta to Parkhead, but there is still some way before a deal is finalised.

Sharing his tranfer update on Twitter, Romano tweeted: "Celtic have opened talks with Tottenham to sign Joe Hart as new goalkeeper. Negotiations ongoing between the two clubs.

"Aurelio Buta is still the main target as right-back, as reported days ago. Celtic are working to reach an agreement."
