Everything Ange Postecoglou had to say to the media ahead of Celtic's Scottish Cup fifth-round tie against Alloa Athletic on Saturday evening...

What will Matt O'Riley add to the team?

I'm very pleased to get him in. He's a player we've scouted for quite a while, in terms of the club. I became aware of him when I joined in the summer. He was one of the ones we were looking at but it didn't quite work out then.

We followed his progress through the first half of this season with MK Dons and he's had a really good season, a strong season. I see some really good football attributes in him that I think will fit in really well with what we're doing here. He's also an outstanding young man who wants to get the best out of his career and that will fit really well culturally here.

It was one we could do really quickly which was important to me because it means he can come in straight away.

Is there anyone else coming in this month or is it a case of getting players out?

As I said last week, we'll stay agile. I don't want to give Michael (Nicholson) and the finance department too many sleepless nights but we're not talking to anyone else or looking to bring anyone else in.

In terms of moving out, I said a couple of days ago that we're not trying to actively get anyone out of the club it's just about trying to find opportunities for guys who haven't had a lot of game-time - and with the competition for places now may not get a lot. So we're working with some of the guys to see what opportunities there are out there. Those types of things tend to happen later in the window.

Are there any players coming back from injury for the Alloa game?

Not from the other night. We got through that really well in terms of all the boys presented well after the game. The whole training group has been training since then. There's still a couple though - (Albian) Ajeti's still out and there's a couple longer-term, and Kyogo obviously, but everyone else is available.

How much are you looking forward to potentially getting your hands on a second trophy?

It's part and parcel of being at this club - you want to succeed in every competition. We've won the only trophy on offer so far and now we're looking to hopefully progress in the Scottish Cup. It's a good challenge - a good team a couple of divisions below but we know what cup competitions are like and the challenges that exist there.

Is there any update on Kyogo's injury?

We're still working through that but suffice to say it's not going to be a quick return. I'm reluctant to put any timeframe on it - I think it's unfair. But we're still looking at a number of weeks at the moment.

Are you excited about going to a different ground?

Yeah, that's part of the challenge. I've been involved in cup competitions in different countries and I've had my travels into different levels of football so I know the challenges. In fact, my last cup game in Japan we got knocked out by a team outside the football league on penalties so I'm well aware of the potential pitfalls of not taking every game seriously.

Was there anything in particular you said about Celtic to get Matt O'Riley to come here?

For me, that part of the process is important because it lets me paint a picture for the player of the environment he's coming into and myself and the club but more importantly to get a feel for where the player is at.

I knew after the conversation I had with him that he was the right type of character to bring into this environment. Because we're trying to build something - there's a really strong culture here about trying to be successful and be the best we can be.

I don't talk to players coming in about their contracts or the money they're going to make or the rewards they're going to get. I talk to them about football and the environment they're coming into. For me it's important that conversation is aligned with the player's thoughts. With Matt, he was super keen to join this club for all the right reasons.

Having won the League Cup, how much does that make the squad even hungrier for more success?

They're joining Celtic, they're part of Celtic. The hunger should be there as soon as you enter through these gates regardless of whether you've won something in the past or haven't. Just because you win one doesn't mean it stops there. That's the one constant about this football club and the culture we want to create. Does it make them hungrier? I hope not. I hope they're hungry all the time. I hope they're always wanting more.

I can tell you that two days after that cup final win we were back in here and the boys were ready to go again for the next challenge.

How disappointing is it for you to lose Tom Rogic [due to international fixtures] given the form he's in?

I'm not disappointed. He's been selected for his national team because he's a helluva player. I'd be disappointed if he wasn't selected. Tom's been an outstanding servant for this football club and for his national team. He wants them to go to a fourth consecutive World Cup - so I'm not disappointed at all. He's arguably been the best player in the competition here and I want to see him do well for the national team. That's not just because it's Australia - for all the players selected I'm never disappointed.

Is Matt O'Riley ready to come in and play?

He's ready to play, yeah. He played last week and I don't think anything's changed in the past three or four days so yeah he's ready to play - but that doesn't mean he's going to be playing straight away.

We've made some strategic decisions to bolster our squad early in the window because we knew that this time would come when either our injured players didn't come back on schedule or we were going to have absences due to internationals and our squad was robust to deal with that.

Is tomorrow a chance for some players who haven't played to take a claim?

Part of having a squad is that you use it. There's no point having a squad of players but just relying on the same ones all the time. Tomorrow is an opportunity to give some guys game-time who need game-time.

Between now and the international break there's constant games - three a week - and we got really challenged prior to the (winter) break with that sort of schedule so I want ot be better equipped to handle it this time round. The way to do that is to try to get minutes into the guys' legs so that when we need them they're not coming in having not played for four or five weeks. Some guys need 90 minutes so we're get them 90 minutes.

How pleased have you been with the business done so far?

Yeah, really pleased. For us, January was an opportunity. Particularly with the Japanese and Asian markets, there's opportunities to do deals early there and get guys in at the right time.

Anything else we were going to do I wanted to make sure it was done quickly. I didn't want to waste two or three weeks working on one deal for it to fall over or for us to come out empty-handed.

So I'm really pleased with what we've done so far. It's credit to Michael and the board and everyone else for how the plan we've had has come together really well and we've got the players we want and got them in early. It gives us the best chance to them contributing straight away.

Are you expecting the likes of Daizen Maeda or Yosuke Ideguchi to be called up for Japan?

They're all in the frame. It didn't help that they all did well the other night and got worldwide attention - I was trying to keep that hidden! But we'll find out tomorrow and I'll be delighted if they do get selected because they're players who are ambitious and want to get to the top of the game, and that includes with their national team. We'll deal with that once it's done.

Do you expect the new signings to continue to grow?

Definitely. They'll get more comfortable - it was their first experience. Anyone who experiences Celtic Park for the first time, irrespective of where they've been in the past, it's unique and you just don't know how they'll deal with it.

They all handled it really well but in terms of their football then yeah there's more to come, definitely.
