Steve Clarke has downplayed any fears that Callum McGregor's injury could keep him out for a prolonged period.

The Celtic captain missed the 2-0 league defeat by Hearts and the Scottish Cup quarter-final win over Livingston on Saturday with a calf issue.

Brendan Rodgers admitted the midfielder underwent a scan after pulling up but that the procedure revealed no issues.

The Northern Irishman insisted his main man would be available after the international break and Clarke agreed after talking to the player.

Speaking today at Scotland's press conference, he said: "I had a brief chat with Callum this week because I knew he'd be missing from this camp.

"There are no big issues moving forward I don't think."

The news will quell fears that Celtic might be without such an important player amid the tightest title chase in years.
