Another day, another Jota update.

The latest is that it could be done this week. Which follows on from when it could have been done last week. It could, if you're following, also have been done the week before.

As I said on today's episode of the Celtic Briefing: in other news water is wet, the sky is blue and Tony Haggerty has a belter of a wardrobe.

Now, in all fairness, this week actually is slightly different.

That's not because the deal or the talks have necessarily progressed quicker than any of the other weeks though. The amount of new information actually taking that part of it forward is as scarce as a heartfelt Boris Johnson apology.

Nope, it's different because this will likely be the last week of Jota's summer world tour if he is indeed joining Celtic

Ange Postecoglou wants the players - well, those who weren't on international duty anyway - back at Lennoxtown next week ahead of a summer camp in Austria and friendlies against Banik Ostrava, Blackburn Rovers, Legia Warsaw and Norwich City.

So far this off-season (I know some of you hate that term, so I'll endeavour to use it in every newsletter until the season starts... or at least the next couple until I forget) the Portuguese winger has been to Ibiza, New York City and Cancun.

The Benfica player has been clocked rocking Celtic gear during that time which begs the question: is this the biggest Parkhead transfer tease since that time Alessandro Del Piero was seemingly about to swap Turin for the Trongate (anyone else still secretly devastated by that? Just me?) or is it simply the actions of a man who has fallen in love with the club and knows where he'll be the time Postecoglou's doing his first-day-back roll call? For now, the answer to that is the only update that actually matters.

So far the odds still favour Jota ticking Austria off his 'places to see' list this summer but the longer it all drags on the more alarm will start to spread among those predisposed to a bout of panic-merchantism... yet given the absence of good news doesn't mean the presence of bad, a wee bit of calm is probably the best method for getting through it. For all parties concerned.
