Former Celtic captain Paul Lambert feels Ange Postecoglou will relish the opportunity to test himself against Real Madrid.

The ex-Scotland international thinks the Australian will embrace the chance to face off tactically against Carlo Ancelotti.

He identified the 57-year-old's calmness and commitment to his playing philosophy as reasons why the former Socceroos boss has been such a success.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the 53-year-old, who won various trophies while leading the Hoops, had nothing but good things to say about Postecoglou.

"I have been fortunate enough to meet Ange a couple of times," he said.

"I went up to see Celtic train last year. He is very laid back, and I do not think he gets involved in the crazy world of the Glasgow media.

"I think he has the correct temperament to handle the club, which has been proven.

"They have been the best team in Scotland for the last 12 months or so.

"I think Carlo Ancelotti gets overlooked. He is one of the most successful managers going and was the same as a player. Ange is going to relish this opportunity."

The ex-Ipswich boss also commented on the enormity of the occasion and spoke about how the players might feel.

He continued: "I think the atmosphere in this match (versus Real Madrid) will show some of the players just how big the club is."
