With the way Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou wants his team to play, there were always going to be players who were brought into - or already at - the club who just could not do what the Australian wanted.

James McCarthy appears to be one of the transfers that have not worked out, with the Irishman finding his game-time limited since he joined last summer.

In terms of players signed under the previous regime, Albian Ajeti and Christopher Jullien featured very little last season, with the Frenchman only making one competitive appearance.

Hoops legend Frank McAvennie feels both men's time at Parkhead is up.

“Ajeti, he’s got to go. he’s not one of Ange’s players," he told Football Insider.

"I’m sure he would’ve scored goals, but Ange’s football is all about movement and Ajeti doesn’t do that. He won’t create chances because all he wants is to score goals, which isn’t a bad thing, it’s just not for Ange.

“Jullien needs to be out the door because he’s obviously not in the manager’s plans. the manager can’t keep both Jullien and Welsh.

“i think these boys should go away and taste life outside of Celtic. some of them have been there for a while.“

The centenary hero also picked out academy graduate Mikey Johnston as someone who could look to move on during this window.

The winger's career has been plagued with injuries and this has meant he has had a reduced role over the last couple of years.

McAvennie feels the 23-year-old's talents may be better utilised elsewhere.

He continued: "When you look at midfield, he’s not going to get a game. If everyone is fit, or even some of them are fit, only so many can play in the midfield.

"And he’s better than a utility player, he’s better than getting 20 minutes here and there, he’s better than that.

"I would like to see him going away and being a star for another team. I think it would do him the world of good to be honest."
