Every now and then a football opinion comes along and knocks you sideways.

Step forward former Hearts midfielder Ryan Stevenson.

I'm very much an each to their own man when it comes to individual's views on the beautiful game.

However, I have to take issue with this remark: "Over the last year and a half Stephen Kingsley has been one of Hearts’ best players in a side that cruised to third, got into a cup final and is now competing in Europe. I’d say he’s a better full-back than Greg Taylor too."

Eh?

A better full-back than Celtic's Greg Taylor?

Come again, Ryan. You're having a laugh, aren't you?

Taylor is the best full-back in the country bar none. He is even being touted as future Celtic captain material. Scotland national boss Stevie Clarke thinks the world of him.

It was Clarke that drafted Taylor into the international set-up in the first place.

Ange Postecoglou raves about Taylor if these quotes are anything to go by.

Postecoglou said: "Greg is improving because he wants to improve. He is one of these players who, in the past, people put him in a certain box and classified him as a certain type of player for a certain kind of level. Greg is one of those guys who come in every day wanting to be better.

"Since I have been here, he's really embraced the culture and the environment and wants to be the best footballer he can be."

He's been so good people have forgotten nearly £4m was splashed out in the summer on a younger alternative.

On the other side of the city, Rangers splashed out over £3.4 million for Yilvan Ridmaz. The Turkish left-back has yet to kick a ball for the Ibrox club. Serious questions are being asked about this transfer down Govan way as to why Ridmaz hasn't featured as of yet.

In Glasgow's East end Celtic shelled out a similar fee for Argentine left-back Alexandro Bernabei but he has scarcely got a look in because of the one and only Greg Taylor. Yet no one is asking questions of Bernabei and that is because Taylor has been in such irresistible form.

Taylor has been questioned ever since he walked through the famous glass doors at Celtic Park both in terms of physicality and ability.

He has answered every question emphatically since Postecoglou has taken over the reins of Celtic.

There is real humility about Taylor and the way he goes about his business. He deserves every success that comes his way.

He has acquitted himself superbly well in two Champions League outings against Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk.

As Taylor himself said: "We know it’s a real high level but it’s a level this club should compete on and I think it’s a level that this team can compete on. We have four more opportunities to show that we belong there.”

Taylor certainly belongs there in that esteemed company.

If Stevenson can't see that then he's clearly not paying attention.

The bold Jambo favourite is perfectly entitled to his opinion and whilst Kingsley is a decent player and a real talent there is no comparison with his Celtic counterpart.

There is not a better left-back plying their trade in Scottish football right now.

If there is then somebody needs to show me.

P.S. They might also want to tell big Ryan while they are at it.
